Join our 3rd general meeting to learn more about pharmacy legislation and the most current events happening with pharmacy on a state level with our guest speaker, Kathy Keough! Kathy Keough is Director of Government Relations for Atrius Health, where she is responsible for state and federal legislative and regulatory issues. With over 30 years of experience in health care, Ms. Keough has held a variety of public policy positions in the private sector as well as the public sector and worked for 10 years at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Ms. Keough serves as a member of the American Medical Group Association (AMGA) Government Affairs Leadership Council, the Public Policy Council for the Visiting Nurse Association of America (VNAA) as well as the Massachusetts Pharmacists Association (MPhA) where she also serves as chair of the Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee. Ms. Keough was awarded the Outstanding Public Policy Advocate of the Year by the Visiting Nurse Association of American in 2015 and previously was the recipient of the “Pharmacist of the Year Award” by MPhA for her work in passing Collaborative Drug Therapy Management (CDTM) legislation, the first non-pharmacist to receive this prestigious award. A graduate of Suffolk University, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Ms. Keough received her Master’s Degree from the McCormick Institute of Public Policy from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Ms. Keough is also involved with several organizations in the state including Hospitality Homes, a nonprofit that provides free housing to patients and families coming to Boston for medical treatment. APhA-ASP is collaborating with ASHP, Rho Chi and PLS for the Mentor-Mentee program to connect student pharmacists from all years at MCPHS! Students in 4th, 5th, and 6th years will be mentors, and students in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years will be mentees.

Please scan the QR code for the sign-up form! The form will be open from October 16-22 for students to sign up to be paired with one another. The results for the paired mentor-mentee will be announced after the form has closed.

Doing cardio fitness is very important in terms of managing cardiovascular health. To promote students to walk/run in their daily lives, Operation Heart will collect step trackers from students weekly and give out a Fitbit to one person with the highest number of steps during the month of November.
